Burritos are popular menu offerings for Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants. There are a lot of ingredient combinations and cooking methods, likemission-style burritos – huge and stuffed, wet burritos that are smothered in cheese or sauce – or California burritos that feature french fries tucked inside. The Augusta-area has more than 50 Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants, so there are a lot of options to choose from. The Augusta Chronicle asked area residents across several Facebook groups and followed up with individuals over Messenger on their favorite burrito restaurants and best dish at those restaurants. Here are some they shared:

Nacho Mama's
The most popular answeramong respondents was Nacho Mama's. This has long been a downtown Augusta hot spot, and it's menu is a big part of that.
One of its most cited burritos is the Godfather featuring pulled pork and mango habanero. Some others included the Bomb with chicken and pinto beans as well as the Baja with grilled mahi mahi and roasted potatoes.
Some said they enjoy all of the restaurant's burritos.Paul Langley of Augusta said he likes Nacho Mama's because "It is locally owned and they use fresh ingredients with huge portion sizes."
Jace Ladnier of Augusta had similar thoughts, saying"All of their burritos are good and huge."

La Cocina Del Rey and Taqueria El Rey
Another popular pick includes two restaurants that are actually part of the same family:La Cocina Del Rey in Grovetown andTaqueria El Rey in Martinez. The restaurants share identical menus, and the burritos are big hits at both, along with the side dishes of kettle corn chips.
One of the star burritos is the Burrito El Rey made with barbacoa, a slow-cookedmeat.Cesar Rodriguez said of the burrito, "The barbacoa is perfectly tender."
KerstonBell said she likes all of their burritos because "The ingredients are always fresh, there's always great service, and no matter what I get, it's delicious."
La Cocina,at 419 Lewiston Road, is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 pm. Sunday.
Taqueria,at 3830 Washington Road, is open 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Medina's Mexican Restaurant
A pick from North Augustais Medina's Mexican Restaurant. Residents likeLisa Hawkins said guests should try any of their burritos because "They are a good size and reasonably priced. Plus you get plenty of meat in them" and those that include cheese sauce"are always fully covered so they aren't skimpy."
One such burrito is the Burrito Veracruzano,which features four different kinds of meat, is topped with cheese sauce and paired with a salad; another is the Burrito Fiestawith steak, bacon and onions covered in cheese sauce.
Medina's is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Friday. and 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. It's located at 615 East Martintown Road. A full menu can be found online at Grubhub.
Teresa's Mexican
Also garnering mentions in North Augusta was Teresa's Mexican Restaurant.The menu has a lot of variety, with over a dozen burrito options for guests to choose from. Becky Crook of North Augusta said her favorite is the Burrito Fajita, which offers both chicken and steak blends.
"It has all the deliciousness of a fajita without burning your fingers on a skillet," she said.
Scott McDaniel of North Augusta said he really loves the beef burrito, which may not have too many frills, but is made very well.
"Beef is well seasoned, well portioned, and the red sauce really tops things off perfectly," he said.

Charro’s Express-Mex
One of Evans' hidden gems is Charro's Express-Mex. This restaurant is smaller, but offers some big meals that are huge hits for its customers.
Charlie Harvey of Martinez said of the restaurant, "Hands down, the best. I haven’t had anything bad there. My family loves it."
One of Charro's more unique dishes is the "Tri-Color Burrito" layered with different sauces so it's reminiscent of the Mexican flag. They also serve a "Burrito Jalisco" featuring chicken or steak with veggies, cheese sauce and hot sauce.
Charro's is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and is located at 4446 Washington Road.
