The Green Bay Packers were in Colorado on Friday for a joint practice with the Denver Broncos at the Broncos' training camp.
The Packers will take on Denver in their second game of the preseason at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Friday's practice included a hit on Packers quarterback Jordan Love — not approved — a few skirmishes, a failed two-minute drill, some Love highlights and a good day for the kickers.
PackersNews reporter Ryan Wood was there and provided live updates. Here's a recap:
Lots of Packers fans in the crowd at practice
Practice is over, but some Packers stopped to sign autographs for fans.
Broncos stop Packers in two-minute drill
In the two-minute drill, the Packers gain just 1 yard on the Broncos' defense:
- First-and-10: Love check right to Josh Jacobs, 1 yard.
- Second-and-9: Love to Romeo Doubs on a left out. Broncos' Riley Moss with pass breakup.
- Third-and-9: Love to Jayden Reed down the middle, open but overthrown.
- Fourth-and-9: Love to Doubs on a right out. Broncos' Pat Surtain II with pass breakup.
Greg Joseph, Anders Carlson making their kicks
Kickers Greg Joseph and Anders Carlson are both 2-for-2 today. Joseph is good from 46L and 52R; Carlson is good from 45R and 53L.
Long snapper Matt Orzech gets into a scrap during drill
We’ve got Matt Orzech and the Broncos' Devon Key mixing it up in a special-teams drill. Long snappers are fighters, too.
Jordan Love connecting with Packers receivers
In the second team period, Love was 5-for-6 for 27 yards and an interception by Broncos inside linebacker Alex Singleton.
He’s 7-for-9 for 63 yards on the day so far. Dontayvion Wicks already has three catches on three targets for 31 yards.
Jordan Love gets hit, and Matt LaFleur isn't happy
Broncos outside linebacker Nik Bonitto beat Zach Tom for a sack, which is fine. But Bonitto knocked Love‘s throwing arm as he released a pass, which is not. The quarterback's not supposed to be touched.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur had some words for Bonitto after the play, which ended in the pick of a popup pass by Singleton — and a fight between players ensued.
Jordan Love connects with Dontayvion Wicks, Luke Musgrave
Love completes two of three passes for 36 yards in the first scripted team period, which focused mostly on the run game. Love connected with Wicks on a 16-yard out and hit Luke Musgrave on a 20-yard drag.
Love also drew a pass-interference call on a go ball to Christian Watson deep.
Practice gets a little feisty, but briefly
In the first chippy rep of the day, tight end Tyler Davis mixes it up with a Broncos linebacker after a play. But it was quickly broken up.
A good start for Josh Jacobs against Broncos' defense
Jacobs got off two good runs to start the team period against the Broncos' defense.
On third down, Broncos defensive end Zach Allen popped Jacobs at the line of scrimmage. It was a good thud — and held Jacobs to a 1-yard gain.
Matt LaFleur looking for 'good, competitive practice'
Speaking to reporters before practice, LaFleur said has high expectations for the day.
First and foremost, he doesn’t want it todevolve into a bunch of skirmishesthat interrupt the flow of the practice.
After that, he just wants a solid day’s work.
