Other Wii/Nintendo Communities If there is anything else you'd like added here, just PM it to one of the Mods. If you have ever tried to install NTSC SNES and NES VC games on your PAL Wii, you probably got a blank screen when you tried to play it. Priiloader settings and freethewads don't solve this problem either. This method will allow any NTSC SNES and NES game, and probably any Virtual Console game, to be played on a PAL Wii. I have tested this with around 15 NTSC SNES and NES titles.

I, too, am having trouble moving and playing WADs from my SD card, same as Oldman111 above. I am currently on 4.2, having updated using the Safe 4.2 Updater available here: with HBC and Larrylje's patched IOS60 installed. Once I had all that done, I used Startpatch to enable region-free channels and GC games, as well as the recovery menu via GC pad (I left the rest of the patches alone). Since then, every NTSC/'acquired' WAD I install to the Wii system memory works fine, but if I move the channels to the SD card and then try to play them from the card or copy/move them back, it refuses to allow it. I should point out at this point that all my Shop Channel-bought VC games still work as they're supposed to, including moving and launching from SD, so I can only conclude that it's a new anti-piracy protection in the firmware itself. My question: I'm thinking of reverting back to 4.1, since I had no problems at all using that firmware.

The majority of these are NTSC, but will work on a PAL console. Be sure to enable the region setting in Priiloader. 16+ GB in total.

To do this, you must have a special 00000004.app file in the same folder as the ROM. This is optional but recommended.

The second line will only be displayed after you click on the save icon from the Wii Menu and you are given the option to copy, move or delete it. Once that is done, click Inject. You will be left with an edited 00000001.app. After that, look for 00000001.app, and delete anything that is filled in the title field.

Here is the tutorial bit, so first your going to need yawmm which is right here make sure you get the one with vwii support it will say it!!!! Next is this is the download page for the custom hb channel with fullscreen support, choose your colors, you got dark blue, black and yellow.

Click on Options > Change NAND Backup Path and, well, choose your backup path (if you are using your NAND backup with Dolphin it is under User Wii). Click on View > ShowMiiNand to see a list of all installed IOSes and Channels in your NAND backup. Right-click the game you want to use (for me it is Paper Mario for the N64) and select Pack Wad. Choose a folder and select OK. I just used the folder I extracted all of the files to from step 1 (the default option). Now click View > ShowMiiWads. Select File > Open Folder and choose the folder that you put the wad in from the previous step.

The only required WADs for N64 injection for Wii and vWii (NOT Wii U) are Sin & Punishment, Ocarina of Time and to a lesser extent Majora's Mask, Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario 64. Bomberman Hero will also work for 'romc' injection.

ModChips will be needed to play USA games on European Wii or Japanese roms on console bought in United States becouse Virtual Console service is region-locked - different versions of games will be provided to different regions, and game availability may vary from region to region. Buy Wii MOD-Chips at: and WiiKey ***** CycloWiz ***** WiiD **** Wiinja *** Virtual Console games can be played using three different controllers. The Wiimote itself (turned on its side) can be used for NES, TurboGrafx-16, and some Sega Genesis games, and the separately sold Nintendo Classic Controller can be used for all Virtual Console games. The controllers from the Nintendo GameCube can be used for all Nintendo systems' games, despite the fact that Nintendo's site claims that it can only be used with some TurboGrafx-16 and Sega Genesis titles. All VC games have their buttons mapped to the respective buttons on the controllers.

Also on 3DS as game compilations. ✓ ✓ HuCard cartridge emulation, and PCE-CD emulation with separate Audio CD tracks. ✓ Arcade mode. Also on the Switch. ✓ ✓ Japan-only.

If you have your game working properly, and the banner, icon and save icons working properly as well, then install the WAD on your Wii from an SD card, USB drive or even FTP server, and enjoy! Happy injecting! Click to expand. Not eShop in the case of Wii, it's Wii Shop Channel. This tutorial is for universally injecting Wii VC WADs to run ROMs via these WADs. The only required WADs for N64 injection for Wii and vWii (NOT Wii U) are Sin & Punishment, Ocarina of Time and to a lesser extent Majora's Mask, Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario 64.

Pirating intellectual property is not the same as violating a company's terms of service. The former has a chance of landing you in jail, the latter could at most result in a civil suit with a fine (in the USA anyway). Piracy goes directly against the forum rules. Violating a TOS does not. Luckily this greatly simplifies what you as a poster needs to remember about piracy and this forum. Piracy is simply theft.

Other Wii/Nintendo Communities If there is anything else you'd like added here, just PM it to one of the Mods. For those who don't know, N64 Virtual Console Injecting is taking an N64 WAD and essentially replacing the N64 ROM portion of the code with another ROM that was never released in the Virtual Console. Compatibility List: I'm just wondering if any of you have had any luck installing these on your Wii. I've tried creating a few of my own over the years, but haven't had any more luck than what you see on the outdated compatibility list.

I know that N64 emulation on computers sucks and it will always be like that, but what about the Wii? I'm looking to play some N64 games and almost every game I wanna play has been ported to the Wii via Virtual Console. Can I just download the.WADs and play them? Because I have been googling a little and it looks like 'pirating' N64 Virtual Console games doesn't really work at all. Do you have some sort of list of.WADs that do work? Also, what are 'injection.WADs'? I'm really looking into playing N64 and I want to buy a Classic Controller Pro for it, but before I do it I wanna make sure that I'll be able to play at least 3 games.

It won't be long before you stop noticing the black borders. Alternatively if the black borders really bother you, but squashed characters don't, you should be able to get the game to fill (most of) the screen by setting the Wii U to output 4:3 and having your TV stretch it to fill the 16:9 display.

PJ64 2.0 development is active and getting better, the compatibility always has been and always will exceed the pathetic list of games on the VC. Let me know when the Wii VC can play injected ROMs with these games full speed and without game-breaking bugs Wii N64 emulation > PC N64 emulation.

This is especially the case with Nintendo 64, Neo Geo, Sega Master System and Commodore 64. Click Console Mode on the top, and select the console you want to inject.

This is the ROM, but it is compressed, so if this is what you have you need to run a command line tool to decompress it. Click on the Windows icon and type 'cmd' and select the only available option. In the command line type: cd C:/ path_to_the_folder_you_extracted_to_in_step_1/ romc d C:/ path_to_the_file/romc C:/ path_to_where_you_want_the_rom/ name_of_game.n64 Replace italics with what it says and the extension at the end of the second line with whatever the extension is for your emulator.

Don't talk about stealing something, whether you've done it, or are going to do it. If you have obtained what you're talking about in a way the law would consider stealing, you're violating the piracy rule. Talking about violating a company's TOS with your legally obtained equipment and software does not violate this rule. If it did, there'd be no reason for this forum to exist. Rules of Social Conduct This shouldn't need to be said, but No abuse and no spam.

Bomberman Hero will also work for 'romc' injection. Problem is, even if you do everything correctly in the case of Nintendo 64, you will get an approximately 70% chance that the ROM will crash at the Classic Controller screen, and a 15% chance that the ROM will work, but there will be issues. The only ROMs I found working flawlessly were Tom & Jerry: Fists of Furry, Ocarina of Time: Master Quest, SM64 Chaos Edition and Animal Forest (crashes when saving).

Right-click the game and select Extract > To Folder and choose a folder. I, once again, just put it in the folder from step 1 (the default option). The first couple of times I did this it worked fine, but the last couple of times it kept 'Not Responding' and wouldn't quit.

These imported games are priced a little higher than normal and tend to be straight ports with no translation. (Exceptions include Monster World IV and Sin & Punishment.) Other games that can be priced higher than normal are games based on externally-licensed properties, one example being the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games. Virtual Console games can be retired from the shop, though purchased games can be redownloaded. Some GameBoy Advance games from the 3DS Virtual Console were available to Ambassadors only, that is, buyers of the Nintendo 3DS before Nintendo announced a price drop. Pricing of Virtual Console games can be ludicrous. If you don't want to pay for VC ROMs on your Wii, you can just install them as.wad files through WAD Manager.

The majority of these are NTSC, but will work on a PAL console. Be sure to enable the region setting in Priiloader. 16+ GB in total. Get 'em all or just what you need!

Virtual Console game roms are locked to the Wii they were bought on, so a player cannot play their Virtual Console games on another Wii by simply swapping SD memory cards, but a Wii MODchip could fix this by emulating same Wii authentication codes on many consoles. In the event that a Wii is damaged and the Virtual Console games can no longer be played, Nintendo will provide support.

I guess it doesn't like bin files? The file is safe, I simply zipped the folder containing wwPacker and stev418's mod.

For channel games (WADs, WiiWare, Virtual Console, VC, whatever else they are called) you will need to softmod. Basically you need to pick one of the multiple ways to get the Homebrew Channel installed. There is a good softmod tutorial thread here you can search for. Wiikey has nothing to do with this part of modding your wii. From there you need the SD card (formatted at FAT32).

Type in the game title from there. Make sure that it does not exceed over 20 characters as with the WAD title, and for some cases type '^' to separate the title into two lines as with the brlyt file. The second line will only be displayed after you click on the save icon from the Wii Menu and you are given the option to copy, move or delete it. Once that is done, click Inject. You will be left with an edited banner.cfg.txt file, as well as edited WTE files.

Make sure it does not exceed beyond 20 characters, so think of any short name. If I had to inject Teenage Mutant Turtles 4: Turtles in Time, I have to type in simply 'TMNT 4' in the field.) Once you have everything filled in, click the 'Start!' Wait for the injection to be done. If it gives you a runtime error, just start again. When the injection succeeds, you will be left with an output WAD named 'VC-[Channel Title] in [Base WAD].wad'. If you have downloaded and extracted the Devilken's Injector archive, open up the folder you extracted it to. Hold Ctrl+Shift and right click while doing so.

It also saves. As for Perfect Dark, Conkers, etc, I think the issue is more to do with licensing than the power of the Wii. Nintendo could do it if they wanted to. Emulators merely guessing how the N64 hardware works will not.

Install the wad. 10) Return to your system menu and the VC game should be on the channels list. Test it and it should work no problem.

The previous step should have made a folder called 00000005_app_OUT or something similar if you extracted a different.app file. Open that folder. The largest file in this folder is the one you want. The name of the file and its extension changes depending on the game. Sometimes it is a.rom file with a random file name, sometimes a.n64 with a random file name, sometimes just 'rom' with no extension, and who knows what else it could be. If it is a.rom file, I haven't yet figured out how to play those in an emulator.

I haven't tested this that much yet, so comment if a game works / doesn't work. Download the ZIP archive and extract all of the files to whatever folder you like.

I know exactly what's wrong; the program tried to put a colon (: ) in a file name but Windows does not allow that. I guess I get to go edit some source code -_- This might take a while then. I have no idea where the line of code is. I think packing the wad to a Linux server would circumvent this, but I don't have one available to use. If anyone has some sort of fix for this, please let me know. If I copy from Wii to SD card then the WAD file will load OK from the SD card as long as the WAD file is in the Wii internal memory but if I move the file and try to launch from SD card it merely says failed to launch. I've got fw 4.0 and like I say the games wil load from SD only if they're in the Wii internal memory at the same time. Click to expand. It is indeed possible to play NTSC WADs on a UK Wii with >=4.0 FW. Just use Startpatch and you can patch the Wii to allow any region channels to run, among other things. Here's the URL: You'll find versions for all firmwares and regions here. Please remember to read the instructions, and be careful! Now, onto my problem.
